Roots 4 + 8 → 3, and 7,653 → 3. They match. A mismatch means wrong, no exceptions. A match means probably right. The old name for this is casting out nines. Fibonacci taught it in 1202. Your credit card runs a descendant. My trading infrastructure runs a cousin every time it reconciles a ledger: compare fingerprints, not the whole day. I cast out nines by reflex for years before I asked why. The answer turned out to be a checksum.
